It is a cultural event that presents the best of opera, ballet and classical music.
The Festival is considered one of the ten best musical events in the world and is one of the most demanded tours in Russia by tourists.
Created by the General and Artistic Director of the Mariinsky Theatre, Valery Gergiev, the event presents cycles of works of great composers like Sergei Prokofiev 's symphonies; Ludwig Van Beethoven concerts; and operas, ballets and symphonic music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; as well as the complete symphonies of Gustav Mahler and Dmitri Shostakovich.
