NEW YEAR'S CAPITAL OF RUSSIA 2022

A fabulous parade was held in the city of Nizhny Novgorod this Saturday, which opened a series of festive events within the very special festival - the New Year's Capital of Russia 2022.

One of the main locations of the festival - the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, will open with an ice show on the 24th of December. Also, there will be a skating rink and the residence of Father Frost. The Sleeping Beauty ice show will take place at the closing of the festival.

Each district of the city will have something interesting to visit as parks and squares have prepared their own programs. Almost 200 Christmas trees will be decorated in the city, more than 70 skating rinks will operate.

The parade route passed through the stations, where street theater actors, jugglers, stilt-walking angels, mimes and dancers, as well as everyone who wished, joined the festive column. This evening, the festive mood was given by snowmen, Christmas balls, elves and gnomes, Christmas bears, hares, deer and other fairy-tale characters. The procession was accompanied by the Nizhny Novgorod Orchestra.

The parade ended in the park on Gorky Square - one of the main locations of the celebration. Father Frost, musicians and dancers met the parade participants on the square, and a New Year tree lighting ceremony took place.

In Nizhny Novgorod, festive events in the status of the official New Year's Capital of Russia - 2022 will be held until the 9th of January.
