NIZHNY NOVGOROD 800TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

On 21 August, the main event of the year in Nizhny Novgorod took place - the Gala Show dedicated to the 800th anniversary of the city. The ceremony was attended by the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The gala show in a way reminded of the opening ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Games, the audience was shown not only the history of Nizhny Novgorod from its foundation to our time, but also the great people who created it. The show began with a performance by Nizhny Novgorod gymnasts. Dances, colorful special effects reflecting the elements of fire and water, bright visual additions - everything was made so that the audience was delighted with the spectacle.

Then, the world famous supermodel who was born in Nizhny Novgorod, founder of the Naked Heart charity fund Natalya Vodianova made a speech and reminded the audience of how important it is today to be merciful and to help people with disabilities. At the end of her speech, she invited the audience to turn on the flashlights on their phones as a sign of support for people with disabilities, and hundreds of lights were lit in the stands.

The gala show on the water was created with the main emphasis on the great Nizhny Novgorod river - Volga, including the performance of flyboarders who performed various spectacular stunts. In the finale, all guests of the event saw a grandiose fireworks show. Hundreds of multi-colored blasts from six barges lit up Nizhny Novgorod. A bright spectacle concluded the celebration.
