BREATH OF BAIKAL OPERA FESTIVAL

The 10th International Festival of Opera Music Breath of Baikal was held in Irkutsk from 26 to 30 May.
On Wednesday, the festival opened with a gala concert, where arias from operas and vocal works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Richard Wagner, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were performed. The evening of chamber music took place on Thursday. The piano was accompanied by works by Russian and foreign composers. On Friday, at the Angarsk Palace of Culture, the artists performed Giuseppe Verdi's opera La Traviata. At a gala concert that concludes the festival on May 30, the guests of the musical festival heard arias and ensembles from operas by Alexander Borodin, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Gaetano Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini. In addition, Siberian and Buryat songs were also performed.
The festival program also included the traditional qualifying round of one of the most famous and prestigious music competitions - the international competition named after Hans Gabor Belvedere. Its qualifying rounds take place on the stages of famous theaters around the world. This year, vocalists from Russia, Ukraine and the United States took part in it.
In 2021, the Breath of Baikal Opera Festival was being held as part of the celebration of the Year of Baikal Lake in the Irkutsk region.
