Peterhof (Grand Palace & Low Park)
This imperial summer residence is famous all over the world. This town of parks, palaces and fountains was founded by Peter the Great in the beginning of the XVII century to commemorate the glory of Russia. According to his plan a Palace was built on beautiful terraces that are descending to the sea, it is surrounded with splendid cascades of fountains, parks with small palaces and pavilions. The center of the ensemble is the 19 meter fountain of Samson tearing the lion’s mouth which was the symbol of the Victory of Russian troops over the Swedish in the war for the access to the Baltic sea.
