START OF NAVIGATION IN ST. PETERSBURG

The long-awaited event for residents and guests of the city - the beginning of navigation in St. Petersburg! This year navigation will start on the 27th of April. It means that from the 27th of April it will be possible to enjoy excursions along the rivers and canals of the city again.

St. Isaac’s Cathedral (as a continuation of city tour)

The impressive dome of this great cathedral can be seen even from afar. It is the third largest one dome cathedral in Europe after St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome and St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The construction of the main cathedral of the Russian Empire that could house approximately 10.000 people lasted for 40 years. The cathedral is 101.5 meters high, it is decorated with bas-reliefs and bronze sculptures, more than 100 granite columns that weigh 114 tons each support the porticos of the cathedral. The interior is a treasury of Fine Arts. The decorations include mosaics, mural paintings, gilded bronze statues, semi-precious stones like lapis lazuli, malachite and the best kinds of marble. At present the cathedral is a museum.
