END OF THE SEASON OF FOUNTAINS IN PETERHOF

19 October 2020

This Sunday, October 18th, the Peterhof fountains operating season 2020 was officially closed. The fountain celebrations, both spring and autumn ones, which traditionally take place with a large number of guests, were canceled this year. An exception was the celebration of the 315th anniversary of the founding of the royal residence of Peterhof: on September 12th, the museum-reserve celebrated it with fireworks and a ceremonial launch of fountains, which for the first time in 2020 took place with the participation of visitors.

Peterhof was founded in 1710 by Peter the Great. He also created a park with fountains in the residence, modeled on Versailles. The fountain system of Peterhof is one of the largest in the world, it consists of 147 fountains and 70% of it has preserved the historical equipment of the 18th-19th centuries. The Peterhof Museum Reserve is one of the most popular tourist sites in Russia. Over 6.2 million people visited it in 2019.

MIR Travel Company can’t wait for the pandemic to be over. So we will be able to show to more and more people the breathtaking beauty of this unique place, the Peterhof Park and Palace, located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland - one of the most picturesque places of Saint-Petersburg region.
