The Hermitage resumes the construction of the fund storage building

The State Hermitage Museum has announced the resumption of the construction of a storage building in the Staraya Derevnya District (St. Petersburg). Restoration and storage center named “Staraya Derevnya" will be built in the form of a cube, covered with a relief glass facade. An unusual architectural concept of the building with a total area of 51,546 square meters, designed by the Dutch workshop OMA (the Office for Metropolitan Architecture), under the guidance of the famous architect Rem Koolhaas. The building will house a library and an open storage, with the possibility of the guides tours, as well as the exhibition halls and staff offices.
