GALLERY OF PETER THE GREAT WILL OPEN IN THE HERMITAGE IN HONOR OF 350TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EMPEROR

The year of Peter the Great starts in Russia, in honor of the 350th anniversary of the birth of the Great Emperor that will take place this summer. On the 14th of January 2022, the State Hermitage Museum of Saint-Petersburg will host the grand opening of the new permanent exhibition, the Gallery of Peter the Great. The exhibition will be dedicated to the era of the great imperator who was the founder of the Northern Capital.

The opening of the first part of the exposition is timed to coincide with several memorable dates at once - the 300th anniversary of the proclamation of Russia the Empire and the 300th anniversary of the Treaty of Nystadt, which marked the end of the Great Northern War and the return of the lands previously lost during the Russian-Swedish wars, - the organizers said.

The exhibition will feature portraits of prominent figures of the Peter the Great era, memorial exhibits, objects created by the hands of Peter the Great himself and much more.

The exposition will be located in the outbuilding of the Winter Palace. It will be the beginning of a large project dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Peter the Great.
