3 Days / 2 Nights
DAY 1. TALLINN
Arrival, transfer with guide to the hotel, check-in.
DAY 2. TALLINN
HD Tallinn walking city tour / Duration - 4 hours.
Breakfast
Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is a perfect symbiosis between the oldest traditions and the modernity. Its old town is included into the Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. Unlike many European cities where old buildings are mixed with new ones, Tallinn's Old Town has been preserved as it was for centuries, with its ancient walls, narrow streets, glowing torches and hidden alleys, which make the city known as the "Forgotten Pearl of the Baltic". In the historic center of the city you will visit the famous towers of "Pikk Hermann" and "Fat Margarete", as well as the Town Hall square and the churches of St. Olaf and St. Nicholas. The hill of Toompea is a great concentration of historical monuments and cathedrals, such as the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky cathedral and the Lutheran cathedral of Toomkirik dating from 1233; the Estonian Parliament settled down in Toompea Castle; the Estonian art museum; and the Kiek-in-de-Kök, a museum-tower built in 1475.
OPTIONAL: In the afternoon we offer an optional visit to the Gardens and Palace of Kadriorg and the Pirita district / Duration - 3 hours. This palace was designed by the Italian master Nicolo Michetti at the request of the Russian Tsar Peter the Great, who built it in honor of his wife Catherine I as a summer residence for the Russian royal family. The palace is the best example of Baroque architecture in the country. Today the palace houses the Estonian Art Museum. Then we continue with the visit of the ruins of the Monastery of St. Bridget built by the Tallinn merchants in 1407. This is the typical example of a late Gothic church-monastery complex in Estonia. The church was destroyed in the second half of the 16th century during the Livonian wars and now we can see only the 35-meter-high granite portico and the side walls of what was the old church. After its destruction, the convent was abandoned and was not rebuilt. In the 17th century, local farmers buried their dead near the gates of the church, creating a small cemetery here.
