The White Nights of Saint Petersburg

Day 1. St. Petersburg.

Arrival, transfer to the hotel, check in.

 

Day 2. St. Petersburg.

Breakfast.

In the morning we invite you to join us for the bus city tour. St. Petersburg is often called ¨Venice of the North¨ for its numerous rivers and canals that divide the city into beautiful islands. We will make several photo stops, one will be on St. Isaac’s square near magnificent St. Isaac’s Cathedral; the other in the Field of Mars that has a unrivalled view of the Church of Our Saviour on Spilt Blood; then at the Spit of Vasilievsky Island to enjoy the splendid panorama of the Peter and Paul fortress, the Winter Palace and the river Neva, we will continue on to St. Nicholas Cathedral. Afterwards, we will visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the cradle of the city.

Afternoon is free at leisure.

At night we will take a romantic walk to the Palace Square, Nevsky prospect, see the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, and the monument to Peter the Great. In the end of the tour we will go up the colonnade of St. Isaac’s Cathedral to enjoy the picturesque panorama of the city. St. Petersburg is simply stunning at the soft light of the White Nights.

 

Day 3. St. Petersburg.

Breakfast.

We will dedicate this morning to a visit to the State Hermitage museum, one of the largest in the world. We will admire the treasures of the Hermitage that include works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rafael, Tiziano, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Rembrandt, such famous impressionists as Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Cezanne etc. After the tour you will have some free time whether to explore the museum collection or to take a walk around the city centre on your own.

Tonight we will take a boat trip along the rivers and canals to enjoy the beauty of the city from the surface of water and enjoy the spectacular unforgettable sight of draw bridges that attract thousands of tourists every year. St. Petersburg is famous for its numerous bridges that lift every night during the navigation period to make way for the ships that go along the principal water way of the city – the river Neva.

 

Day 4. St. Petersburg.

Breakfast.

Today we will take you to the majestic summer residences of Russian emperors: Pushkin (Tsarskoe Selo) and Peterhof. In the morning we will go to the town of Pushkin to see the enormous Catherine Palace with its famous ¨Golden suite of rooms¨, including the unique Amber Room.

 

Afterwards, we will move to another suburb of Saint Petersburg – the town of Petrodvorets – to see the old residence of Peter the Great - Peterhof. We will walk along the parks of Peterhof, contemplate the majestic water cascades, elegant gardens adorned with classical statues.Our way back to St. Petersburg will be on a hydrofoil.

This evening is dedicated to the Mariinsky theatre that is world-famous for its opera and classical ballet. Every year Marrinsky theatre organizes an international festival ‘Stars of White Nights” that involves renowned musicians, directors, ballet dancers and singers.

 

Day 5. St. Petersburg.

Breakfast.

In order to see the most of the cultural capital of Russia this morning the memorial museum of one of the most famous Russian composers – Rimski-Korsakov awaits us. A private concert of classical music will crown the visit.

Then we continue on to Yusupov palace. The mansion was constructed in the end of the 19th century for Prince Yusupov who was one of the richest men in Russia. The magnificent interiors are preserved in the palace that is considered to be a jewel of Russian architecture. Yusupov palace is associated with many names and historical events, one of them is known all around the world: in 1916 a trusted advisor of the Romanov family Grigory Rasputin was assassinated in this palace. He was victim of a plot organized by the last owner of the palace prince Felix Yusupov who aimed to save the Russian crown from the influence of Rasputin. The theatre can also boast a magnificent miniature theatre that has classical proportions.

Afternoon is free at leisure.

Tonight we can offer an optional visit to the theatre or the philharmonic hall to complete the day with a ballet or opera performance or a classical music concert.

 

Day 6. St. Petersburg.

Breakfast.

Transfer to the airport.
